Astrochemistry: Discovery of Novel Forms of Matter in Large Planets

摘要: The Voyager 2 spacecraft measured unexpectedly large magnetic fields surrounding Neptune and Uranus. We explore the hypothesis that water under extremely hot compressed conditions is source of these measurements. will discuss computer simulations other liquids extreme interiors planets. have calculated lifetimes concentrations molecular non-molecular species, comparison made to experiment where possible. observe onset an exotic phase water, called 'superionic phase', in which oxygen atoms freeze into a crystalline form, hydrogens diffuse rapidly by hopping between lattice sites. Our results improved knowledge diagram at conditions. Furthermore they important implications for modeling Uranus their corresponding fields. also present on discovery superionic solids. predictions show rapid ionic conductors could be more prevalent simple than previously thought.
