摘要: INTRODUCTION Salmonella infections in humans can range from a self-limiting gastroenteritis, usually associated with non-typhoidal (NTS), to typhoid fever complications such as fatal intestinal perforation. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the annual global incidence of is about 21 million cases mortality 1% (Crump et al ., 2004). This may be an underestimate because predominantly disease developing countries, where not all present healthcare services and data collection difficult. In addition, financial constraints limit outbreak investigation antibiotics are often widely available without prescription. Not only does this compound problems gathering, but it likely add burden resistant circulating community. situation even less clear for NTS most patients do need consult health services. Despite this, reported 1999 USA alone there were estimated 1.4 infection annually, resulting approximately 600 deaths (Mead 1999). There no doubt antibiotic resistance poses major threat human health, especially invasive immunocompromised fever. cost terms shown Table 2.1. also potential increase food production.
