摘要: Single cell gel electrophoresis (or Comet Assay) was used for evaluation of the in vitro genotoxicity hydrogen peroxide (used as a positive control), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) (Aroclor 1254) and methyl mercury chloride, isolated bottlenose dolphin leukocytes. Results showed that induced DNA strand breakage dose-dependent manner, while PCBs did not induce clear dose-effect response at low doses investigated. Efficiency repairing by also evaluated. Findings demonstrated cells are characterized higher efficiency repair when compared to human The observed resistance toxicity dolphins hypothesized be defence strategy developed combat high dietary exposure compensate limited capacity excrete persistent pollutants.
