摘要: A number of rare butterflies are known to only utilise their host plant species when they grow in particular situations. Field data presented showing that two aphid also utilised plants grew situations, namely near ant nests. The oak-feeding Stomaphis quercus occupied trees within 17 m a Lasius fulignosus nest. thyme-feeding Aphis serpylli occurred region Breckland grass heath where the sward contained high density niger nests, and then most commonly quadrats containing was suitable for A. generated by action farm traffic. It is concluded ants indirectly impose habitat specificity on these aphids.
