摘要: Abstract Attitudes towards wind energy development are influenced by a number of social, political, and geographic factors. Initial resident expectations for development, then the degree to which these were later met can help explain support or opposition energy. Yet, role unmet is not well researched in explaining perceptions attitudes development. This study explores relationship between energy, as turbine beauty, rural residents near two projects U.S. state South Dakota (SD). A survey ( n  = 239) administered 2014 across counties investigates process attitude expectation formation they developed. Results show that majority had positive expectations, largely unmet; nonetheless, most retain both projects, although certain types related more negative attitudes. Furthermore, results find turbines motion be beautiful than static turbines—demonstrating economic environmental values influencing expectations.
