摘要: Automatic continuous online monitoring of polymerization reactions (ACOMP) was used to follow kinetic trends in the reversible addition -fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) butyl acrylate (BA) acetate, using 2-{((dodecylsulfanyl)carbonothioyl)sulfanyl}propanoic acid (DoPAT) as RAFT agent and 2,2-azobis(isobutyronitrile) initiator (AIBN). The goals were demonstrate use ACOMP for studies examine trend conversion evolution weight-average molar mass Mw intrinsic viscosity ( )w a series experiments which concentration decreased over wide range while all other reaction conditions held constant; (DOPAT)/(AIBN) ranged from 0 2.4. This allowed transition "living"-like behavior "controlled radical polymerization" (CRP) regime, where sufficient used, noncontrolled regime progressively reduced zero. kinetics found be essentially zeroeth order DoPAT, deviations living estimates efficiency. vs monomer varied dramatically near-ideal at high (DoPAT)/(AIBN) classical ) 0. All but one experiment showed nonzero f 0, points branching side reactions, depending on (DoPAT). should prove useful tool both fundamental research process development.
