Evidence for Control of Synthesis of the Variable Regions of the Heavy Chains of Immunoglobulins G and M by the Same Gene

摘要: Abstract Previous work indicated that the light chains of a monotypic immunoglobulins G2-K and M-K from single patient (Ti1) are identical. Our present data show G M share idiotypic determinants not in their isolated or any large number other tested, amino acid sequences first 27 residues NH2-terminal end γ- μ-chains These results support hypothesis at least two genes control synthesis each heavy chain suggest immunoglobulin this three four involved. It is proposed that, during normal synthesis, different cells clone synthesize G, variable segments proteins classes identical within clone. A genetic switching mechanism suggested.
