摘要: ABSTRACT: Context:The increasing prevalence of overweight in youth has been well chronicled, but less is known about the unique patterns and risks that may exist rural urban environments. A better understanding possible rural–urban differences physical activity profiles facilitate development more targeted interventions. Methods: Participants (1,687 boys; 1,729 girls) were recruited from fourth, fifth, sixth grade classes schools areas, small cities, areas. Multilevel modeling analysis was used to examine overweight. Physical assessed by self-report body mass index calculated measured height weight. Findings: Prevalence higher among children (25%; P < .001) than areas (19%) cities (17%). Urban least active overall (Cohens' d =−0.4), particularly around lunchtime while at school (d =−0.9 −1.1). Children reported highest levels activity. Conclusions: The results this study suggest there are children's even within a fairly homogenous Midwestern state.
