Framing alleged Islamist plots: a case study of British press coverage since 9/11

摘要: In the decade after 9/11, UK terrorist threat was associated with a series of high-profile counterterrorism operations linked to specific plots. These terrorism-related episodes received significant media attention and, as consequence, were visible sign contemporary threat. This article seeks identify dominant frames rendered in news reporting on these episodes. Through longitudinal study press coverage, analysis reveals that two prominent present, an inevitability and preparedness frame, alleged plots serving underline risk posed by terrorism, belonging responsibility which cast later Muslim communities disrupted police operations.
