摘要: Induction of sexual reproduction in the facultatively Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is cued by depletion nitrogen. We explore capacity for indirect monitoring population variation gametogenic process using flow cytometry. describe a high-throughput method capable identifying fluorescence, ploidy and scatter profiles that track vegetative cells entering undergoing gametogenesis. demonstrate first time, very early late growth phases reduce to distinguish putative gametes from based on fluorescence profiles, early/mid-logarithmic cultures show optimal distinction between gamete profiles. argue early/mid logarithmic are valuable such high throughput comparative approaches when investigating optimisation or quantification gametogenesis This approach provides new insights into impact culture conditions gametogenesis, while documenting novel profile shifts which typify process. has potential applications to; enabling quick monitoring, uses increasing efficiency as comparing switch gametic states across treatments, criteria enrichment phenotypes cell sorting assays.
