摘要: Abstract Multiple sclerosis is a disease both of the CNS compartment in which localized immune response occurs, and peripheral compartment. The causative agent -+is unknown, though viruses are suspected to be among candidates. Here hypothesis proposed, that apart from viruses, also activated granulocytes host might trigger sensitization against self, insofar as they suited modify self-proteins. modification results action endogenous o-quinones generated by granulocytes. chemically reactive couple proteins producing new epitopes. Modified self-proteins then may sensitize system or break tolerance. Granulocytes thus not only effectively eliminate pathogens, but cause damage tissues host, proteinases described inflammation, proposed here for multiple its models.
