摘要: Furan (Fu) is a liver carcinogen produced during heating process of food and concerns public health problem. The current study was undertaken to evaluate the protective role quercetin (Que) on Fu-induced hematological, immunological, histopathological alterations in rats. Fifty male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into five equal groups. Group I (Cont) received distilled water, group II (CO) corn oil, III Que at 50 mg/kg BW, IV Fu 16 mg/kg V + simultaneously; all groups gavaged daily for 30 days. Our results revealed that administration significantly elevated RBCs, Hb, PCV, WBCs, lymphocytes, granulocytes reduced phagocytic percent (Ph%) index (PhI). decreased serum total protein, albumin, globulin, IgM, IgG, IL4, with significant increase TNFα 8-OHdG. Moreover, it GSH content GST activity increased MDA levels splenic tissue. Histopathologically, led moderate depletion lymphoid cells weak immunostaining CD20 antigen few lymphocytes appeared spleen. Meanwhile, co-administration ameliorated altered hematological parameters improved Ph% PhI. It modulated biochemical immunoglobulins. lipid peroxidation enhanced antioxidant status indicated possesses against oxidative damage stimulates immune function.
