摘要: Urban political ecology (UPE) has provided critical insights into the sociomaterial construction of urban environments, their unequal distribution resources, and contestation over power resources. Most this work is rooted in Marxist geographical theory, which provides a useful but limited analysis. Such works typically begin with historical-materialist theory power, then examine particular artifacts infrastructure to provide critique society. We argue that there are multiple ways expanding framing, including through or wider currents Marxism. Here, we demonstrate one possibility: starting from empirics South, specifically, African urbanism. show how urbanism can inform UPE associated research methods, practice create more situated UPE. suggesting what might entail: everyday practices, examining diffuse forms opening scope for radical incrementalism.
