摘要: Head trauma and acute disorders often instantly compress the cerebral cortex lead to functional abnormalities. Here we used rat epidural bead implantation model investigated immediate changes following compression. The dendritic arbors of affected cortical pyramidal neurons were filled with intracellular dye reconstructed 3-dimensionally for analysis. Compression was found shorten apical, but not basal, dendrites underlying layer III V reduced spines on entire arbor immediately. Dendrogram analysis showed that in addition distal, proximal apical also quickly reconfigured. We then focused trunks explored how rapidly altered. twisted microtubules deformed membrane contour likely a result elastic nature as decompression restored it stabilization failed block it. Subsequent adaptive remodeling plasmalemma normal appearance 3 days via active mechanisms taxol blocked restoration partly plasmalemmal reorganization which presumably engaged recycling excess membrane. In short, structural dynamics associated revealed demonstrate compression altered morphology output hence functions consequently.
