摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter describes methods used to study the mechanism of transcription activation by integration host factor (IHF), using Pe promoter bacteriophage Mu as an example. IHF is a member class so-called histone-like proteins from Escherichia coli . Proteins belonging this are small, relatively abundant, and able bend or wrap DNA, have therefore been implicated in condensation bacterial chromosome. In addition IHF, other well-characterized HU, H-NS, FIS. FIS site-specific DNA-binding proteins, whereas HU H-NS interact with DNA nonspecifically. For however, it has shown that they can also more direct role—that is, interacting RNA polymerase. The discusses detection IHF-RNA polymerase complexes solution.
