摘要: Abstract Raman and infrared microscopy have been used to characterise the black pigments on prehistoric Southwest American black-on-white pottery. Conclusive spectroscopic evidence for use of carbon-based paints these sherds has provided using technique. Maghaemite (γ-Fe 2 O 3 ) magnetite (Fe 4 ), found alternatively or mixed with a carbonaceous pigment, were also identified some sherds. Infrared measurements indicated that little, if any, organic material from biogenic precursors pigment binding agents remained in paints. These results obtained rapidly non-destructively unprepared samples, resulting data complement, instances correct, paint type conclusions drawn studies involving techniques such as XRD, SEM-EDX, XPS.
