Effect of the size of the pupae, adult diet, oviposition substrate and adult population density on egg production in Musca domestica (Diptera: Muscidae)

摘要: In order to enhance the mass production of house fly, Musca domestica, five aspects its oviposition biology were analyzed. Oviposition substrate and manner presentation, composition diet adults, size pupae numbers flies in a cage identified as critical. Females preferred lay eggs on which was presented within shelter with increased linear edges against could oviposit. Different types resulted comparable yields eggs. The presence an attractant (ammonia) manure found have potentially posi- tive effect female fecundity. Egg yield when two protein sources (yeast milk) included adult diet. How- ever, fed mixture sugar yeast laid over 50% fewer than those same proportion milk. fecundity decreased increase number per cage, but highest total obtained most crowded (14.2 cm 3 fly). did not significantly affect egg production.
