摘要: Persistent organic pollutants (i.e. PCBs, DDTs, and HCHs) were analyzed along Australia New Zealand North Island coastlines. PCB concentrations high in urban areas (107-294 ng/g-pellet), with Sydney Harbour the most polluted. Hepta-chlorinated was abundant, ~30% suggesting legacy pollution. DDT showed similar pattern except rural agricultural sites, Taupo Bay Ahipara, (23 47 ng/g-pellet). p,p'-DDE predominance at these 2 sites suggested historical input; they also had HCH (17 29 The role of International Pellet Watch (IPW) science communication studied through feedbacks from IPW volunteers, case studies examples. data categorized into understandable terms tailored reports based on volunteers' backgrounds complemented pollution maps. effectiveness has led to its use awareness education activities focusing both POPs plastic debris issues.
