摘要: In Plasmodium gallinaceum, parasitic in domestic fowls, addition to the schizogony red blood corpuscles, also occurs monocytes and cells of reticulo-endothelial system. This other than erythrocytes may be termed, for convenience, exo-erythrocytic schizogony. Exo-erythrocytic schizonts are characterized by never having malarial pigment (as they live devoid haemoglobin), growing a large size forming numerous merozoites, up 50 or 60 even more. not confined leucocytes stream, but can develop fixed endothelial organs such as brain, lung, liver spleen. The brain is an especially important focus development and, after sporozoite infection, it first organ which develop. These found capillaries soon parasitized present peripheral circulation, yet have been before parasites-are blood. rows ultimately occlude most brain. blockage results symptoms general paralysis infected birds death follows few days; frequently apparently cured infection treatment with quinine. stages P. gallinaceum occur inoculated sporozoites. During growth, body schizont breaks into number masses cytomeres, on periphery merozoites developed regularly arranged digitiform processes. A mass chromatin migrates distal end each process cut off form merozoite. mature consists irregular enclosed sac-like membrane remains host cell. composed almost entirely when fully practically no cytoplasm remains.
