摘要: The objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that feed additives such as chelated minerals, organic Se, yeast culture, direct-fed microbials, and Yucca schidigera extract would improve nutrient digestibility when included in an equine diet. Horses (Quarter Horse geldings 4.5 16 yr age; mean BW 522 kg ± 46 kg) were acclimated 100% pelleted diets formulated with (ADD) without (CTRL) commercially available sources aforementioned followed by a 14-d collection period feces urine. Chelated Cu, Zn, Mn Co utilized versus sulfated forms, at replacement rate. No significant differences among apparent DM, ADF, or NDF (P= 0.665, P = 0.866, 0.747, respectively) detected between dietary treatments. Likewise, no Cu (P 0.724), Zn 0.256), 0.888), 0.71), Se 0.588) observed. observed serum Mn, concentrations ADD CTRL acclimation time points > 0.05). While difference groups 0.05), they statistically higher for horses consuming Serum both 0.021) 0.05) concentrations. increased over 0.001) 0.021). From collection, whole blood concentration 0.01) but not results indicate effect on due inclusion maintenance.
