Lab on upconversion nanoparticles: optical properties and applications engineering via designed nanostructure

摘要: Over the past decade, high-quality lanthanide doped upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) have been successfully synthesized with rapid development of nanotechnology. Due to unique electron configuration ions, there are rich energy level structures in near-infrared, visible and ultraviolet spectral range. However, for UCNPs, only a limited number efficient upconversion excitation emission generated due sensitizer (Yb3+) activator (Tm3+, Er3+, Ho3+) application is mainly focused on bio-imaging by using luminescence UCNPs. Recently, more researchers started focus tuning optical properties developing multi-functional UCNPs combination sub-lattice mediated migration, core@shell structural engineering based nanocomposites which greatly expands range applications lanthanide-doped Therefore, “nanolab” can be created where property modulation realized via designed host-dopants combinations, nanostructure, exchange “alien species” (organic dyes, quantum dots, etc.), so on. In this paper, we provide comprehensive survey latest advances made include levels guided designing UCNP synthesis techniques fabricate nanostructure optimum structure properties, fabrication UCNPs-based extend introducing additional functional components, or integrating moiety into one nanocomposite.
