摘要: The desirability of a reliable means determining the age composition harvest game animals has been indicated by Leopold (1936), and emphasized for furbearers Yeager (1950), Elder (1951). This study was undertaken to investigate certain characters available from carcasses mink (Mustela vison, Schreber), in order determine their value as criteria aging. A series 370 ranch known collected studied. consisted 100 young males, 70 adult females, females. following were investigated; skinned carcass weight, total length, baculum weight morphology, femur length twenty skull measurements characterizing various aspects cranial development, general morphology skull. sample 280 wild trappers throughout western portion Montana during 1951 trapping season. Where practical, described above studied on these an attempt made compare them with those animals. all within reported distributional area Mustela vison energuemenos (Hollister, 1913). 164 or 58.5 per cent 116 41.5 These figures indicate significant divergence hypothetical 50-50 sex ratio.
