摘要: BackgroundLiquid-based cytology (LBC) has achieved great success in cytological diagnosis of various cancers when compared with conventional smear methods. However, its application diagnosing nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) never been studied.MethodsEighty-four consecutive patients who underwent biopsy for suspicious NPC or a mass under nasopharyngoscopy were enrolled this prospective study. Brush samples taken from the same site before punch and processed Thin Prep test.ResultsThe adequacy, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, false-negative rate, false-positive rate LBC 92.9% (78 84), 93.6% (73 78), 84.2% (16 19), 96.6% (57 59), 15.8% (three 3.4% (two 25), respectively.
