摘要: In Rwanda, 85% of primary energy comes from biomass. To alleviate this huge dependence, the Government banks on use alternative sources prioritising solar and biogas in rural areas. This paper analyses two 45 institutions Southern Province, using data collected through desk study survey. The research reveals that these are known but very few rural institutions equipped with such systems. Solar used for lighting cooking respectively. Their adoption is still government and NGOs driven. Institutions systems experience lack of skilled technicians resulting poor maintenance malfunctioning. Lack of funds, little insight advantages energy, and existing financial facilities set up by to promote their dissemination major obstacles their adoption. Therefore, departments in charge should organise awareness campaign for heads of institutions inform them sources. They also run specific training programmes avail technicians capable installing, operating maintaining or biogas power Keywords : Southern province, biogas, energy, uses, constraints.
