Dialect, drama and translation : a socio-cultural investigation into the factors influencing the choice of strategies in German-speaking Europe

摘要: This thesis examines the translation of dialect in drama German-speaking Europe, exploring complex influences on choice strategies by practitioners. Utilising paradigms Descriptive Translation Studies, polysystem theory and norms theory, it investigates how target culture practice. The study offers, for first time, a systematic overview functions in drama, available, identifying dialect translation practice northern Germany, Switzerland Scotland. Based these, three research areas are explored, focussing Germany, German-speaking Luxembourg: - sociolinguistic situation emergence oral standard; - use German-language as stylistic device particular genres and, especially, socio-political functions; - process illuminates translation and their connection with both factors German drama production.
