摘要: In the absence of a functional reproductive pair, neotenic moults began during third to fourth weeks after isolation larvae from parent colony, and continued until 9th 10th in those groups where new neotenics were not removed. New could be distinguished within one three days moult by several morphological features. The presence single soldier replicate did influence development, but composed entirely brachypterous produced fewer than apterous larvae. Similar numbers developed isolated same colony although rate development differend between groups. This difference was insignificant when number male female each equal. finding apparently result fact that moulted into earlier greater
