Optical trapping and manipulation of single living cells using infra‐red laser beams

摘要: It is possible to make optical traps for small biological particles using the forces of radiation pressure from a single highly focused laser beam. Laser are localized few cubic μm and capable trapping 10's nm up μm. With infrared beams 1.06 wavelength, such confining freely manipulating living cells without damage. The trap was introduced into viewing plane standard high resolution microscope with numerical aperture objective combined particles. reproduction E. coli bacteria yeast observed within infra-red trap, thus demonstrating damage free operation at power levels moving velocities 100's μm/ s in water. Manipulation organelles interior plant animal also demonstrated. Separation collection accomplished. In addition cells, technique has been applied red blood protozoa, tobacco mosaic viruses, many varieties motile bacteria, cells. ability having wide variety shapes sizes under conditions enhances prospects use techniques sciences.
