摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter provides an overview of the present state nitrogen pollution in European streams, rivers, and lakes. The main focus this is on diffuse sources nitrogen. Concern about elevated concentrations loading to groundwater surface water Europe has prompted introduction many reduction strategies at international, national, local levels. Measures reduce point source discharges tertiary treatment urban wastewater as well various key industries have been implemented most countries within EU. Today, a high proportion total anthropogenic aquatic environment consists from agriculture. However, reducing input agriculture difficult for both technical political reasons. may be introduced/implemented large surplus. Another approach introduce transport measures level before it reaches thus increase nitrogen-removal potential along routes followed by soil water.
