摘要: Distinguishing seminomatous from nonseminomatous testicular neoplasms preoperatively is useful because treatment of these two tumors types different. We evaluated whether the distinction could be made with MR imaging in six patients and nine (including teratoma, teratocarcinoma, embryonal cell, choriocarcinoma). The diagnoses, which were obtained formal reports studies done interpreted before orchiectomy, compared pathologic diagnosis. between tumor on images was based signal intensity heterogeneity lesion. also retrospectively findings tissue histology. scans showed a marked heterogeneous mix signals, some regions less intense others more than normal both proton-density T2-weighted images. typical background nearly equal to tissue. had dark band at their periphery that correlated fibrous capsule histologic examination. In contradistinction, isointense testis consistently hypointense relatively homogeneous These typically lacked One lesion, only 3 mm diameter, not characterized limitations spatial contrast resolution. 13 14 lesions characterized, type predicted correctly basis appearance. one error occurred patient pure seminoma. Although appearance lesion otherwise similar other seminomas, single focus bright due hemorrhage. This incorrectly as element. Our this small series suggest can used distinguish tumors.
