摘要: For more than a century, several inclusions have been mixed with Portland cement—nowadays the most-consumed construction material worldwide—to improve both strength and durability required for construction. The present paper describes different families of that can be combined cement matrix reviews achievements reported to date regarding mechanical performance, as well two other innovative functionalities growing importance: reducing high carbon footprint cement, obtaining new smart features. Nanomaterials stand out in production such advanced features, allowing or multi-functional structures by means thermal- strain-sensing, photocatalytic properties. first self-cleaning concretes (photocatalytic) reached markets. In this sense, it is expected will commercialized address specialized needs architecture. Conversely, enhance reduce environmental impact remain research stage, spite promising results these issues. Despite fact are especially profitable case massive consumption, shift from deeply established green cements still has overcome economic, institutional, technical barriers.
