摘要: Land cover change in Rondonia, Brazil was estimated using Landsat and JERS-1 SAR data. Annual TM data from 1989 to 1995 were used document rates of deforestation, abandonment re-clearing secondary growth for a 460000 hectare area Rondonia. Results indicate large, rapidly changing pool (varied annually between 24 55% the total deforested area). deforestation ranged 5800 18700 hectares per year, while annual varied 2100 36000 year. Over 90% re-cleared at least once by 1995. 65% areas use abandoned into some period time This rapid cycling may have minimal effect on net biotic flux carbon decadel basis. Nevertheless, variability clearing rates, however, significant impact interannual fluxes CO/sub 2/. 1993 merged with analysis assess influence pasture stand age L-band radar backscatter. General trends decreasing backscatter increasing observed. Significant differences backscatter, existed within stands classes.
