摘要: When immiscible polymer melts are combined by chaotic advection, melt domains recursively stretched and folded. A multi-layer blend morphology results that has a hierarchical structure intrinsic mechanical interlocking. Novel derivative morphologies can be obtained via the formation interactive growth of holes among layers. In this study, unique continuous advection blender (CCAB) was used to investigate influences these on tensile impact toughness properties polypropylene (PP)-low density polyethylene (LDPE) blends. Although prior related work focused batch processing, study also demonstrated viability in flow modes suited for extruding blends with target morphologies. Extrusions were producible giving an overall combination improved relative associated droplet typically conventional compounding equipment. Applicability injection molding is discussed. processing control features CCAB-type devices briefly described.
