START: A European state-of-the-art on-line instrument for clinical oncologists

摘要: Abstract START (‘State-of-the-Art Oncology in Europe’), a freely available resource on the Internet, is European ‘information base’ of current clinical approaches to human tumours. Its aim help oncologists make appropriate decisions by providing them with updated information reflecting state-of-the-art cancer treatment as perceived oncology community. It based upon contributions from authors and internal reviewers all over Europe selected START'S editorial board under supervision an advisory scientific committee. Close collaborations main societies are ongoing. An external feedback process augments mechanisms for rendering truly instrument. concerned evidence-based medicine, options thus codified their bases indicated accord scale worked out perspective decision-making. Therapeutic may be ‘standard’, ‘investigational’, or ‘suitable individual use’ (within context decision made jointly patient physician). The goal instruments such improve quality care.
