摘要: We have isolated and characterized a segment of the chick alpha 2 collagen gene by screening library genomic fragments using as hybridization probe an cDNA clone. Several clones were one them, lambda gCOL 204, was used for further studies. The DNA 204 hybridizes to unique species mRNA size mRNA. This can be translated into polypeptide which comigrates in SDS-gel electrophoresis with pro-alpha collagen. Electron microscopic analysis R-loop technique indicates that contains 7Kb gene. 7 Kb piece constitutes 3' end same clone also 9 is immediately adjacent cloned interrupted 8 intervening sequences various lengths. coding this add up approximately 1,800 bp, correspond about 1/3 sequence small g COL reveals characteristic type encodes amino acid identical found calf region protein has not yet been determined
