摘要: A field study was carried out with the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) variety BP1 to determine influence of plant population density and seed tuber size on crop’s physiological growth components yield performance under optimal conditions. Two factors considered were density. The first factor involved four sizes; S1 (small), 200-350 mm in diameter; S2 (medium), 350-450 S3 (large), 450-550 diameter S4 (very large), greater than 550 diameter. second (E) it at three levels; level 1 (E1) 90 by 15 cm, 2 (E2) 30 3 (E3) 45 cm spacing. Parameters measured included shoot emergence (germination), haulm yield. There significant differences mean percentage germination 9, 10, 11 12 days after planting across sizes. Plants from larger tubers exhibited (kg/ha) compared smaller when experiment terminated 95 emergence. Large very large overall resource use efficiency allocation metabolites as all levels small medium sized tubers. This had implications duration bulking, consequently yields obtained harvest. At same time, no (p>0.05) effect number From results this study, can be concluded that optimum for good sets gave best © 2012 Friends Science Publishers
