摘要: Salinity profiles and meteorological data were analyzed during February, May, September 2006 in Chetumal Bay, a large, shallow estuary of the Western Caribbean. Local conditions revealed three seasons: (1) dry season (March–May); (2) wet (June–October); (3) nortes season, with northerly wind events (October–February). During seasons, salinity ranged between 13 16 psu, was highest ranging 18 22 psu over most area; strong stratification significant contribution salty water characterized this season. Strong horizontal gradients observed near Rio Hondo seasons. Deep narrow peculiar bathymetric features called pozas showed relatively high salinity. The northern part Bay probably entire system are far from being homogeneous.
