摘要: How could ecological thinking animate an epistemology capable of addressing feminist, multicultural, and other post-colonial concerns? Starting from epistemological approach implicit in Rachel Carson's scientific practice, Lorraine Code elaborates the creative, restructuring resources ecology for a theory knowledge. She critiques instrumental rationality, abstract individualism, exploitation people places that western epistemologies mastery have legitimated, to propose politics epistemic location, sensitive interplay particularity diversity, focused on responsible practice. Drawing naturalized epistemology, feminist theories, analyzes extended examples developmental psychology, two "natural" institutions knowledge production-medicine law. These lend themselves well reconfigured naturalism. They are, empirically-scientifically informed, specifically situated, locally interpretive. With human subjects as their "objects" knowledge, they invoke responsibility requirements central Code's larger project. This book discusses wide range literature philosophy, social science, ethico-political thought. Highly innovative, it will generate productive conversations theory, ethics more broadly conceived.
