摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the data on DNA polymerase II in context of current knowledge eukaryotic polymerases, replication and its fidelity, repair. has been proffered as “repair polymerase.” Contrary to implicit assumption, repair is not a single process but an array different pathways that have dissected at least partially by genetic studies. It cannot be presumed particular acts replication, or performs all repair, each pathway dedicated polymerase. If involved damaged DNA, it might possible principle obtain radiation-sensitive mutants either POL2 , DPB2, DPB3. Further evidence implicating comes from spontaneous mutator phenotype exonuclease-deficient pol2-4 mutant. While may also arise mutants, mutation does confer sensitivity DNA-damaging agents, epistatic relationships discussed chapter, link 3’→5’ exonuclease with replication.
