摘要: Summary The process of selection a pathology computer system has become increasingly complex as there are an increasing number facilities that must be provided and stringent performance requirements under heavy computing loads from both human users machine inputs. Furthermore, the continuing advances in software hardware technology provide more options innovative new ways tackling problems. These factors taken together pose difficult set decisions choices for analyst designer. followed by Microbiology Department at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital included examination existing systems, development functional specification formal tender process. successful tenderer was then selected using predeflned evaluation criteria. company developed supplied based on distributed network SUN main processor. written Informix running UNIX operating system. This represents one first microbiology systems commercial relational database fourth generation language. advantages this approach discussed.
