摘要: Abstract Gilgel Gibe hydroelectric power dam was located in the submerging part of Addis Ababa, Jimma highway Ethiopia which is about 55 km far from constructed 2004. A cross-sectional study conducted during 2005 to assess siltation and nutrient enrichment level dam. It found that were major problems this reservoir. The sheet erosion catchment area be 4.47 × 107 ton/year hence 2210 ton/km2. contribution sediment load deposition River 277,437  ton/year total 4.50 × 107 ton/year amount could cover 3.75 × 107 m3/year From analysis water samples dam, concentrations ammonia, chlorophyll a, dissolved solids (TDS), oxygen (DO), biological demand (BOD), pH temperature within permissible limits as prescribed by WHO standards, but other parameters like phosphate, nitrate, sulphate, (TS), suspended (TSS) visibility much higher than limits. Due high concentration load, secchi disc 0.72 m indicated it well range eutrophic lakes.
