Distribution of traffic among applications as measured in the French METROPOLIS project

摘要: We investigate in this paper the time evolution and composition terms of applications traffic two different networks, namely Renater network, dedicated to French academic research community, France Telecom backbone network supporting commercial traffic. For each we present applications, associated pie charts for global results, as well as, detected application, its flow size distribution, that should have an impact on nature (self-similarity or long range dependence due heavy tail distribution). Based these presents a discussion differences between usage, possible solutions against lrd degradation performance. analysis, propose new method classifying according which relies applicative protocols recognition instead iana ports numbers.
