Abnormalities in quadriceps-hamstring strength. Relationships in polymyositis and dermatomyositis.

摘要: Muscle strength determined as torque was measured in patients with dermatomyositis and polymyositis. Patients demonstrated weakness both quadriceps hamstring muscle groups. The ratio of to (Q:H) 1.93 +/- 0.38 controls 1.60 0.62 patients. Q:H ratios that were below this mean older, weaker, treated greater doses prednisone. Fifty-six percent studied initially had low ratios, 64% all at some time. steroid thyroid myopathy, however, not different than controls. It is hypothesized, therefore, preferential involvement the group characterizes inflammatory disease.
