摘要: Synapses are the fundamental units of connectivity that link together nervous system. Lectin studies from 30 years ago suggested specific glycans concentrated at neuromuscular synapses in peripheral system and excitatory brain. Subsequent have confirmed particular glycan structures localized these synapses, including polysialic acid, high mannose, cytotoxic T cell antigen, forms heparan sulfate. Though role molecules synapse formation function is still poorly understood, there increasing evidence agrin, a synaptogenic factor formation, modulated by several glycans. In addition, recent generation ST8SiaIV null mice strongly suggests for acid synaptic plasticity some regions central
