摘要: Cretaceous bakevelliids in Argentina are restricted to the Lower Cretaceous. They recorded shallow marine deposits two Mesozoic basins located Andes foothills Patagonia. In Austral Basin (44(-55(S) there is only one genus, Gervillella, represented by a single specimen from Barremian. Neuquen (30(-40(S) genera, Gervillaria and occur, ranging Berriasian PilmatueMember of Agrio Formation species identified: alatior (Imlay) Gervillella aviculoides (J. Sowerby). The former also Mexico while latter more widespread, occurring Europe, Asia, Africa. Bajada del section they come eight tabular shell beds near on top shallowing-upwards cycles. were abundant four these levels. These interpreted as having been deposited mid-ramp (middle cycles), upper (top cycles). A functional analysis shells revealed life habits: epibyssate endobyssate. 2003 Elsevier Ltd.
