摘要: Abstract The production of π0 mesons in central collisions 12C and 40Ar on 208Pb has been examined at a number energies from 1. to 2.1 GeV/N, as part the first systematic study function beam energy charged-particle multiplicity rate neutral-pion relativistic heavy-ion collisions. For comparison, corresponding π± data acquired with same detector system have also presented. results indicate that, for given target-projectile combination, both neutral- charged-pion increase smoothly by factor approximately 2.9 this range. measurement is discussed order how characteristic distributions observed were used parameterize experimental results. average pions nucleons projected these found disagree statistical models particle production. significance Nπ±/Ncharge Nπ±/Nπ0 ratios context understanding nature collision process.
