摘要: OBJECTIVE: To develop an outcome measure as a basis for prescribing and evaluating rehabilitation in the critically ill, to its reliability responsiveness change. The study also aimed assess feasibility safety of pilot exercise training protocol intensive care unit. METHODS: We developed battery tests (the Physical Function ICU Test [PFIT]) endurance, strength, cardiovascular capacity functional level. Patients with tracheostomy who were mechanically ventilated recruited from medical-surgical respiratory weaning unit at tertiary referral hospital Melbourne, Victoria, between 2003 2005. underwent performed PFIT when able stand, again after ventilation. RESULTS: demonstrated good was responsive Twelve patients completed testing sessions no adverse events; 50 63 possible (79%) delivered. Participants increased marching on spot result by mean difference 86.3 steps 56 s (P<0.05), shoulder flexion 8 repetitions (P<0.05). Improvement function muscle strength observed Inter-rater (intra-class correlation coefficient, 0.996-1.00). CONCLUSIONS: is reliable measure, safe feasible. As may attenuate weakness impairment, can be used prescribe evaluate mobilisation. Future research should aim score investigate ability predict readmission risk outcome. (author abstract)
