摘要: Objective: Alterations in the size of [CAG]n repeats AR gene have been described several types tumors. The purpose this study was to evaluate if there is an association between repeat alleles and relative risk for head neck cancer analyse microsatellite instability (MSI) loss heterozygosity (LOH) these Design: Matched samples blood tumors were evaluated using two methodologies, silver-stained gels perform analyses MSI LOH, automated analysis confirm results genotyping length. Sixtynine individuals without used as a control group both procedures. Logrank test compare overall survival disease-free curves. Cox proportional hazards regression models performed determine independent prognostic factor. Results: Patients with 20in malegroup showed correlation lower diseasefree (P = 0.0325) recurrence or metastasis (RR 2.52, CI 95%). In female group, allele 2 (longer allele) significant mean when compared group. Microsatellite detected nine cases six out cases, we observed reduction LOH one 17 women informative oral Conclusion: These suggest that short length ( 20) polymorphism associated poor prognosis subset male patients uncommon
