摘要: Belching is a common phenomenon. However, it becomes bothersome if excessive. Impedance–pH monitoring can classify the belching into two types: gastric and supragastric (SGB). The former physiological mechanism to vent swallowed air from stomach, whereas latter behavioral disorder. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) most relevant condition in both types of belching. Recent findings have raised awareness that excessive SGB possibly sheds light on pathogenesis part proton pump inhibitor (PPI) refractoriness GERD. could cause typical symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation or chest pain ways: SGB-induced gastroesophageal esophageal distension. In PPI-refractory GERD, important detect hidden since requires psychological treatment instead high dose PPIs modulators. case GERD with SGB, recent studies imply combination approach conventional improve outcome.
