摘要: Objectives: We investigated the prevalence of scoliosis among primary school students in Sivas, Turkey. Methods: To determine age bracket 10 to 15 years, 11 schools were selected with systematic sampling. A total 3,175 (1,538 girls, 1,637 boys) grades 6 8 from 16,103 using a stratified sampling method. Examination for was made by forward bend test and palpation spine. Results: Fifteen children (0.47%) found have scoliosis, including girls (66.7%) five boys (33.3%). The significantly higher (0.65% vs. 0.31%; p 0.05). levels involvement lumbar vertebrae 73.3% (n=11), thoracic 13.3% (n=2), thoracolumbar (n=2). Spinal curvature right side 12 cases (80%), left three (20%). Girls did not differ respect severity direction (p>0.05). During two-year follow-up no progression observed, one child who wore Milwaukee brace. Conclusion: School screenings may be performed as part studies; however, routine screening is debatable.
