摘要: The Afrotropical region has a rich, highly diverse, and distinctly recognisable freshwater crab fauna comprising 145 species in 20 genera two families. entire is endemic to Africa its islands, distributed over 47 countries eight distinct regions. Major centers of richness include the Rift Valley eastern Africa, Upper Guinea forests western Lower central Africa. IUCN Red List indicates that majority (71%) 103 potamonautid potamid crabs are Least Concern just Near Threatened. Some twenty-eight (27%) listed one three threatened categories, either as Vulnerable (16 species), Endangered (10 or Critically (2 species). Excluded 33 found be Data Deficient because lack information on distribution population levels, 18 discovered since last assessment 2009.
